Stornoway is easily accessible if you are travelling by road. Stornoway is served by Caledonian Macbraynes' 'The Isle of Lewis' (pictured left). 'The Isle of Lewis' is a modern roll-on/roll-off car and passenger ferry which operates from Ullapool (1 hour's drive from Inverness). 

The crossing is enjoyable as you travel at a comfortable 18 knots, with onboard facilities such as the observation lounge, quiet area, lift and toilets for the disabled, shop, cafeteria, children's play area, dogs area, full meals, light snacks, bar and packed lunches. (Capacity 123 cars; 680 passengers).

Ferries to the other islands sail from Uig in Skye, Mallaig and Oban. Special packages include the Island Hopscotch - a choice of pre-planned routes for cars and accompanying passengers - and the Island Rover - a runabout ticket with or without a car and which is valid for 8 or 15 days with unlimited travel on most routes.
