While visiting Stornoway you will soon find that there is much to do and see - much more than you would expect for such a small town. Stornoway is the largest town in the Western Isles/Outer Hebrides and acts as the administrative centre for the whole of the islands.
Stornoway provides entertainment for both businessmen and families. You can be sure that you will find something to do. For the businessman there is the obligatory 18 hole golf course (pictured above)..
Wandering around the Lews Castle grounds, which consists of over 800 acres of world renound woodland - a well established arboretum of the finest quality. Around every corner is something new - including the Woodland Centre (above left) craft shop and coffee shop/restaurant/cafe. Expect to be surprised by lifesized Lewis Chessmen who appear here there and everywhere. Wonderful walks along the river Creed which flows through the grounds may tempt you to take up the facility of fishing/angling for Salmon and Trout.
For the more adventurous visitors there are many activities to get the adrenalin flowing. Proving very popular (even with the grey suited businessmen) is the Karting Track (pictured left) on the outskirts of the town.
A more relaxing time may be had by going on a cruise or fishing trip which are sometimes available from the harbour but always available from many local companies.
